Check out the newest addition to our Products page - a single-chamber bat house. We know that a bat is a mammal, not a bird, but it has wings and is very beneficial to the ecosystem (they eat mosquitoes and other pests and are active pollinators).

Our bat house has been approved (we're in Idaho) by Bat Conservation International, a recognized leader in conservation, education and research involving bats and the ecosystems they serve.

Construction features:

• made with exterior-grade plywood
• all pieces are caulked and screwed together with rust-proof deck screws
• all exterior seams are caulked after assembly 
• screw heads are filled and sanded smooth
• the 3 1/2" landing area and interior contains grooves 1/2" apart and 1/16" deep (we do not use mesh or tacks that could come loose and cause difficulties for the bats)
• the interior depth is 13/16" (to minimize intrusion from predators)
• the landing area and all interior surfaces are covered with two coats of dark brown exterior water-based stain
• the exterior is painted with one coat of primer and two coats of exterior water-based paint (check here for information about the right color for your bat house)
